Program Questions

What do I need to join Mentoring365?

Required experience: Any professional or student in the ESS community can apply to become a mentor or mentee. Current members of Mentoring365 partner societies are encouraged to apply. No previous mentorship experience is required.  

Background checks: To ensure an inclusive and secure mentoring environment, all applicants will be screened to verify their identity. For those applying as mentors, we will either confirm their membership with one of the Mentoring365 partner societies or conduct a background check at no charge for applicants. Those applying as mentees may be asked to provide school transcripts or other professional verification.   

How do I get started with a mentoring experience once I'm onboard?

Mentees: Mentees begin by reviewing a pool of mentor profiles. Once they find a potential mentor with related experience or knowledge and availability, mentees send a request for either a one-time meeting or a 3-month mentorship experience.  

Mentors: Mentors begin by posting a profile with the experience and knowledge they can share and await a request from a mentee. Mentors must accept invitations for a one-time meeting within 7 calendar days, and invitations for 3-month mentorships within 15 calendar days. 

In-Person Meetings:  Mentoring365 is an online mentoring platform; however, mentees can use the one-time meeting function to arrange an in-person meeting with mentors, often those are located at the same university or organization or are attending the same conference or event.  

Can I be both a mentor and a mentee?

Yes! You can learn and lead at any stage of your career. Either request to be both a mentor and mentee during your application to the program or, once you’ve joined, click “Contact Admin” in the panel on the left side of the page and request to be assigned the additional role of mentor or mentee.  

What are Mentoring365 Circles and how can I join?

Mentoring365 Circles is a peer-to-peer group mentoring program that will help you build skills and grow your network around common interests and objectives. It is complimentary to the Mentoring365 track and is an opportunity for participants to find a community in topics like science communication, careers outside academia, science policy, professional writing and more. 

To join, sign up for Mentoring365 and mark 'Yes' to "Are you interested in Circles". You can join both Mentoring365 and Mentoring365 Circles! Just update your profile in Mentoring365 to indicate you are interested in Circles and you will receive a message that you have been added to the program within a week. Learn more about Mentoring365 Circles.

Platform/Technical Questions

If I forgot my password, how can I retrieve it?

Logged in: Click the Contact Admin link in the panel on the left of the page OR click your profile picture on the top right then click Contact Admin. Enter the Subject and Message and click Send Message. Alternatively, click here to contact administrators.

Not Logged in/No account: Click Contact Administrator at the top right of the page, provide your Name and Email , enter you message and click Send Message. Alternatively, click here to contact administrators.

How do I contact the administrator?

Click the Contact Admin link in the panel on the left of the page. Enter the Subject and Message and click Send Message.
Note: You will also need to provide your Name and Email if you are not logged into the program.

Can I reply to a message from the mentoring program by email?

You can reply to messages via email and your reply will be routed back through the program. Your reply will be posted in your inbox, and the recipient will be notified by email. Attachments/files cannot be sent via reply to messages, please directly email attachments or log into the platform to send attachments or files.

What browsers are supported?

Mobile device: You can visit Mentoring365 on your mobile browser or download the Chronus app in the Apple or Android store.  
Web browsers: Mentoring365 works on the following browsers.
